FY24 Budget Testimony: Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection

Children’s Law Center Policy Attorney Makenna Osborn testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Public Works and Operations at the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) FY24 budget hearing, emphasizing the need for DLCP to actively enforce the District’s beneficial owner disclosure law and to develop clear measures to hold accountable landlords who do not comply with the law. We urge the Committee to probe DLCP about the resources it needs to audit past beneficial owner disclosures and take appropriate enforcement action.
