Testimony: WiFi Task Force Act of 2016
Policy Associate Michael Villafranca testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Business, Consumer, and Regulatory Affairs regarding proposed legislation that would establish a wireless network task force to provide comprehensive policy recommendations on how the District can provide free wireless internet access through the construction and operation of a municipality wireless network.
In his testimony, he highlights the importance of having access to the Internet in today’s society, as well as the need to eliminate the digital divide for the District’s poorest residents. He also discusses some potential benefits of having free wireless internet access across the city.
