Testimony: Office of Human Rights Oversight (FY16)
Senior Policy Attorney Renee Murphy testified before the DC Council’s Committee on the Judiciary regarding the FY 2015 performance of DC’s Office of Human Rights (OHR). She focused her testimony on two of OHR’s programs, in particular: the Citywide Youth Bullying Prevention Program and the Language Access Program.
In addition to highlighting the Citywide Youth Bullying Prevention Program’s partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education and ChildTrends for a federal grant to begin a pilot program that would implement and study the effectiveness of the research-based Safe School Certification Program, Renee expresses concern about language access in the District, especially as it relates to the needs of Children’s Law Center’s client families with limited English proficiency.
