FY23 Budget Testimony: Department of Energy and Environment
Children’s Law Center Senior Supervising Attorney Kathy Zeisel testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment at the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) FY23 budget hearing. As Kathy noted, DOEE is leading the way in DC in mold inspection and enforcement, and we support both increasing the ability of this program to do more inspections and also increasing enforcement of these inspections to ensure that the problems are fixed. DOEE has received a significant influx of federal dollars, and we hope that this money will be properly deployed to buildings where it can make a meaningful difference for DC’s low-income residents.
