ABC 7: DC parents push for more consistent bus service for students with disabilities
Carl Willis of ABC 7 continues coverage on the OSSE transportation class action lawsuit, this time on budget constraints that affect consistent nursing services on DC school buses.
7News received a tip that a contractor that provides nursing services on D.C. school buses had to temporarily end that service because of budget constraints.
That is a concern for some parents of students with special needs who say routine is vital for their well-being.
“There’s value to consistency specifically with kids with complex issues,” said Marcia Cannon-Clark.
She said her 8-year-old daughter Beverly has had inconsistent transportation bus service because of late and sometimes missing buses operated by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).
Cannon-Clark said her daughter has also had to deal with the changing faces providing care on school buses.
