In DC, Better Asthma Care May Start at Home
Mya Trujillo of The Washington Informer features our partnership with IMPACT DC, Children’s National’s Child Health Advocacy Institute and Yachad to create the DC Healthy Housing Map.
Each year, Children’s Law Center meets hundreds of families whose children suffer from asthma and other health issues that are worsened by pests and mold in their homes. Often, multiple families in the same complex experience similar issues – as roaches, rodents and water damage often impacts multiple units and floors at a time.
The DC Healthy Housing Map uses data to pinpoint where children face the greatest health risks—and where action is needed most. We’re now using those maps to advocate for systemic changes and combine funding to assist owners in making building repairs.
