Children’s Law Center executive director Judith Sandalow was quoted in a Legal Times story on the effects of the federal shutdown on local legal services organizations and their clients. Children’s Law Center is the largest legal service organization in the District of Columbia and our lawyers are seeing negative impacts from the shutdown. With uncertain funding, payments for clients’ food, clothing, and medical care are not being made. There are also delays in getting necessary case files due to a reduction in courthouse staff.
The shutdown is “compounding an already-frayed safety net” for our clients, Sandalow told Zoe Tillman of the Legal Times.
