In the fall, DC Superior Court Judge Robert Morin will take over as chief judge. In a recent article, The National Law Journal asked Children’s Law Center Executive Director Judith Sandalow to weigh-in on how he could create change in DC.
“There are two ways that Judge Morin could build on the court’s efforts to make justice real for low-income families. The first is to increase access to high -quality lawyers so poor families don’t have to go it alone in civil cases. Judges make the best decisions when they have complete information, which is difficult to get without experienced lawyers representing all parties. The second is to speed the resolution of cases, which is especially important for children who can’t wait for safety or stability.“
