NBC News4: Children’s Law Center
The pandemic has exacerbated the ongoing behavioral crisis impacting children and youth, and Children’s Law Center is advocating for DC leaders to increase investments in School-Based Behavioral Health services to help meet kids’ unique behavioral health needs. NBC News4’s Pat Lawson Muse interviewed Children’s Law Center Supervising Policy Attorney Tami Weerasingha-Cote to discuss how the pandemic has affected children’s behavioral health and how NBC/Telemundo’s Project Innovation grant has enabled CLC to reach more families referred to us by our medical-legal partners.
As Tami noted in the TV segment: “Even before the pandemic, we had a youth mental health crisis here in the District. The pandemic has exacerbated this existing crisis and we’re now seeing how it is impacting kids’ ability to engage in school and with others.”
