WAMU: Should DC Lower Estate Tax? Debate Pits Compassion, Competitiveness

Tax cuts shouldn’t come at the expense of those in poverty, especially at a time when schools are growing and many face homelessness. Ahead of the DC Council’s budget vote, Children’s Law Center Executive Director Judith Sandalow discussed the looming triggers with WAMU’s Martin Austermuhle.

“We’re being asked to nickel and dime support for kids and struggling adults and families at a time when there’s talk of a very big tax cut for folks who we don’t have to nickel and dime at all because they’re quite wealthy,” said Judith Sandalow, the executive director of the Children’s Law Center.
