Washington Post: Future of D.C. Council Education Committee is unclear with Catania’s departure
Children’s Law Center was mentioned in a Washington Post article about the future of the two-year-old DC Council Education Committee. The committee was previously chaired by Council Member David Catania, who will no longer be on the Counil when the next term starts. This leaves the education committee’s future up in the air.
Children’s Law Center supports maintaining the committee, as it is a critical outlet for addressing policy questions and providing oversight in a city where the mayor has direct control of the schools, and the State Board of Education plays a limited role.
