Jessica Kurtz Zagoren
Jessica is a Guardian ad Litem Deputy Director, supporting oversight of the Children’s Law Center’s Guardian ad Litem program. Our Guardians ad Litem represent children who have been removed from their families and placed in foster care or who may live at home but are being monitored by DC’s Children and Family Services Agency due to allegations of abuse or neglect. She supervises staff attorneys and carries a limited caseload of neglect, adoption, guardianship and custody matters.
She joined Children’s Law Center in 2011, previously working as a staff, senior staff attorney, and GAL training supervisor. As a law student, Jessica worked in the Disability Rights Law Clinic as a guardian ad litem representing adults with disabilities and children with special education needs and received the Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Student Award. She also participated as a fellow in the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project teaching constitutional law to D.C. public high school students.
