LaShanda Adams
LaShanda started her legal career at Children’s Law Center in 1999 as a Skadden Fellow and returned to the organization in 2022 to serve as Legal Director. Prior to rejoining Children’s Law Center, LaShanda was a professor of law and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of the District of Columbia School of Law, where she was awarded tenure in 2016. She has also held positions at the New Jersey Office of the Child Advocate, the American Bar Association Center on Children and the Law, and American University Washington College of Law. LaShanda has served on the Maryland Citizens Review Board for Children and, in 2019, was named a Fulbright Scholar by the Australian-American Fulbright Commission. She is a frequent presenter at child welfare conferences and has authored several law review articles examining child welfare law, policy, and practice.
