Melissa Gomez Nelson is a partner in Dentons’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, and a member of Dentons’ White Collar and Government Investigations practice and Blockchain, Digital Assets & Cryptocurrency teams, resident in the Firm’s Washington, DC, office.
A seasoned corporate litigator and investigations attorney with extensive in-house experience, she advises and defends clients across multiple market sectors in civil and criminal matters before federal and state courts in the District of Columbia, Texas, and Virginia.
Drawing on her background as head of litigation for a publicly traded company and her tenure at top-tier law firms, Melissa is adept at guiding clients through sensitive, high-stakes disputes. She focuses on representing individuals and corporations in complex actions, including internal investigations, parallel civil and criminal proceedings, negotiations with the Department of Justice, and trial advocacy. Her practice includes matters involving the False Claims Act, health care fraud, procurement fraud, securities fraud, antitrust violations, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Melissa also has significant experience in Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement actions, environmental criminal matters, serving as pool counsel in criminal cases and other large-scale government investigations. She also co-leads the Firm’s False Claims Act Task Force.
