2023-24 Oversight Testimony: Deputy Mayor for Education, District of Columbia Public Schools, Office of the State Superintendent for Education

Senior Policy Attorney Danielle Robinette testified at the Commitee of the Whole performance oversight hearing in regards to the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME), District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), and the Office of the State Superintendent for Education (OSSE).

Her testimony provides recommendations on how to best combat and reduce absenteeism in The District, which calls for a collaborative approach across the three agencies, as well as direct investments of time and resources at the student- and sector-level. Some of these investments includes addressing the barriers faced by students with disabilities, lack of support for students with physical and behavioral health needs and missed opportunities to support students in the care of DC.
