2025-26 Oversight Testimony: Office of the Ombudsperson for Children
Children’s Law Center Senior Policy Attorney Leah Castelaz testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Youth Affairs regarding the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children (OFC). Our testimony outlines opportunities for growth within OFC, specifically with regard to the Office’s complaint process, annual reporting, crossover youth data, and interagency coordination. We also emphasize the Office’s unique position as an independent legislative agency and its potential to function as a strong asset to the Council’s oversight work if provided with the right resources.
