FY22 Budget Testimony: DOEE

June 14, 2021

Children’s Law Center Senior Policy Attorney Elizabeth Oquendo testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment about the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE), noting the progress the agency has made fighting mold and lead-based paint hazards and asking the Committee to ensure DOEE has the investments it needs to help keep DC children safe and healthy in their homes. We also urge the Committee to ensure DOEE’s budget includes funding for the Residential Housing Environmental Safety Amendment Act and to advance the remaining provisions of the Lead Hazard Prevention & Elimination Act needed to strengthen DC’s lead law.
