FY21 Budget Testimony: Education Budget
Children’s Law Center Executive Director Judith Sandalow recently shared her education budget testimony with the DC Council’s Education Committee. At CLC, we work with children in DC’s education system every day. Judith testified because while CLC support’s the Mayor’s proposed 3% increase in the DC Public Schools funding formula, we know that continued investment in other areas of education are equally important during this difficult time for DC’s students. DC’s education budget must address and adequately fund access to technology; school based mental health; and safe and reliable transportation to and from school. Additionally, we must act now to pass the Home and Hospital Instruction Act so that students with chronic or serious health issues can prevent falling further behind than their peers.
