FY23 Budget Testimony: Office of Administrative Hearings
Children’s Law Center Senior Supervising Attorney Kathy Zeisel provided written testimony for the DC Council’s budget hearing on the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH). As the new Department of Buildings opens its doors in FY23, we hope the agency will work toward ensuring all DC residents live in safe and healthy housing — and brining enforcement actions against landlords who fail to fix housing code violations is a critical part of that. As the Department of Buildings is likely to generate more cases at OAH, we urge the Council to ensure that OAH has the resources it needs to support a functioning inspections and enforcement system.
