Testimony: Non-Public Student Educational Continuity Amendment Act of 2021
Children’s Law Center Policy Attorney Danielle Robinette testified before the DC Council’s Committee of the Whole about the Non-Public Student Educational Continuity Amendment Act of 2021, which addresses the crucial
educational needs of students at the margins of the margins. We support the bill for making a small, but important change to D.C. Code § 38-302(e) that would expand the definition of resident for the purposes of assessing tuition for students who live outside of the District while remaining enrolled in a DCPS or DC public charter school.
Passage of this bill will provide families with a clear right to educational continuity for their student as well as a timeline by which they can plan
for their student’s educational future.
