Testimony: Department of Human Services Oversight (FY16)
Executive Director Judith Sandalow testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Health and Human Services regarding the FY 2015 performance of the Department of Human Services (DHS). Her testimony focused on the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and DC’s 60-month time limit implementation set for October 2016.
In addition to highlighting the more than 6,500 families with over 13,000 children that will hit the 60-month time limit and be cut off from all income and employment supports, Judith discussed DC’s TANF time limit history, what the looming 60-month cut-off means for the District’s children, and how to prevent these families from falling into crisis.
