FY15 Budget Testimony: Deputy Mayor for Education & Public Charter School Board

Children’s Law Center testified at a May 2 budget hearing regarding the Mayor’s proposed FY15 budget for the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME). More information about the hearing can be found on the Council website.

Senior Policy Attorney Elizabeth Tossell testified to support the Mayor’s proposed budget increase for PCSB, and encouraged using the additional funds to focus on improving monitoring and technical assistance to help schools better serve students with disabilities, homeless students, and students who have experienced trauma. In testimony regarding DME, we comment on the proposed DC Youth Reengagement Center and school stability for foster youth.
