Testimony: Housing with Integrity Amendment Act of 2025
Children’s Law Center Policy Attorney Patrick Cothern testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Public Works and Operations to share our support for the Housing with Integrity Amendent Act of 2025 and provide recommendations for further strengthening the bill. These recommendations include expanding the bill to including license renewal within its scope, amending the District’s business registration requirements to prevent landlords from hiding behind shell companies, and to better identify life-safety violations in the bill.
It’s Time for Healthier and Safer Housing for all DC Residents
When a child lives in unhealthy housing, they are more likely to end up in the ER because their poor housing conditions trigger health issues like asthma. That’s why Children’s Law Center partners with organizations across the city to advocate for healthier housing so that all DC children have the safe housing they need to live healthy lives.
