Testimony: Ombudsperson for Children Shalonda L. Cawthon Appointment Resolution of 2022
Children’s Law Center Executive Director Judith Sandalow testified before the DC Council’s Committee of the Whole Roundtable on the Ombudsperson for Children Shalonda L. Cawthon Appointment Resolution of 2022. For years, we have testified to the urgent need for the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children, and we commend the Council for establishing and funding the Office. As Judith shared, we are excited at the prospect of this appointment,
which brings the District one step closer to having this Office up and running, and we urge the Council to provide the necessary support to ensure the Ombudsperson is able to fulfill the goals of the Office.
