Testimony: Roundtable on Fixing the District’s Voucher Bottleneck
Children’s Law Center Senior Policy Attorney Makenna Osborn testified before the DC Council at the joint public oversight roundtable entitled Housing Without the Holdup: Fixing the District’s Voucher Bottleneck. Our testimony provides examples of how the pervasive communication failures and delays in the local vouchers administration process harm District families and recommends that the Committee establish clear standards and expectations that will hold DHS and DCHA accountable for: 1) timely and responsive communication with voucher applications, voucher recipients, landlords and relevant services providers; and 2) comprehensive data collection reporting to strategically target improvement efforts.
