Testimony: Roundtable on Maternal and Infant Health
Senior Policy Attorney Leah Castelaz testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Health at a public roundtable regarding continued challenges in addressing coverage and care. As the District prepares for both Executive and Council administration changes, this roundtable provided an opportunity to take stock of recent progress and persistent gaps in DC’s maternal health landscape. We offered several recommendations for a new administration to consider: (1) continued and improved investment in the implementation of the doula benefit into Medicaid; (2) sustained funding for HealthySteps through both local and federal dollars; and (3) centralized home visiting efforts in the District.
