Testimony: School Attendance Amendment Act
Children’s Law Center Policy Attorney Danielle Robinette testified before the DC Council’s Committee of the Whole on the School Attendance Amendment Act. Every day, we work with children and families who face barriers to regular school attendance, and we support the proposed amendments to the bill as a first step toward the necessary overhaul of DC’s attendance regulations. We hope the DC Council passes the bill and continues to move away from punitive responses to absenteeism, focusing instead on efforts to support students overcome barriers to attendance.
