Testimony: Youth Exiting with Support Amendment Act of 2018
Children’s Law Center attorney Aubrey Edwards-Luce recently testified about the Youth Exiting with Support Amendment Act of 2018. This legislation focuses on the supports youth receive when involved with CFSA and DYRS. We are commenting on the legislation because many of our clients are involved with these agencies. Over the past three years alone, 35 Children’s Law Center clients have aged out of CFSA’s care and custody and some Children’s Law Center clients have also experienced exiting the custody of the Department of Youth Rehabilitative Services (DYRS). Through these challenging transitions, we have learned that successful exits from care are essential for the health and safety of the District’s youth. Read the full testimony here!
