2022-23 Oversight Testimony: Education Agencies

Children’s Law Center Policy Analyst Danielle Robinette testified before the DC Council’s Committee of the Whole about the performance of DC education agencies, including District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education, District of Columbia Public Charter School Board, State Board of Education, Office of the Student Advocate and Ombudsman for Education.

Danielle urged the Committee to address the ongoing issues with school transportation delays, delays in OSSE promulgating home and hospital regulations; significant issues with the implementation of the Student Fair Access to School Act; and lost federal funding that has resulted from DCPS’ failure to address safety issues and restore Head Start programs to all eligible classrooms.
