Testimony: Preserving Our Kids’ Equity Through Trusts Amendment Act of 2022 and Fostering Stable Housing Opportunities Amendment Act of 2022

Each year, Children’s Law Center represents approximately half of all DC children in foster care, and we appreciate that the DC Council’s Committee on Human Services is considering the Preserving Our Kids’ Equity Through Trusts Amendment Act (POKETT Act) and the Fostering Stable Housing Opportunities Amendment Act (FSHO Act). As Children’s Law Center Supervising Policy Attorney Tami Weerasingha-Cote testifies, these two bills shed light on the barriers many children and youth face to achieving financial and housing stability. We support the goals of both bills and would encourage the Council to take effective action in these areas impacting the well-being of DC kids, youth and families.
